U.A.P.P.E.A.L. was founded in 2005 by Barbara Doherty and Mark McDaniels in order to create a voice for responsible private exotic animal owners in the federal and state legislation arenas where there was no voice to represent responsible private exotic animal owners before. U.A.P.P.E.A.L.'s believes in fair federal and state legislation. Biased and unfair legislation has been passed for decades without a single voice of opposition. U.A.P.P.E.A.L. has now provided that voice for all so that opposition to biased and unfair federal and state legislation will be heard.
Message From the Co Founder
With the everyday day struggle for the preservation of the rights of responsible private exotic animal ownership, the time has come for all to unite as one with no limitations and without bias to any exotic animal breed, class, colony, herd, or species. Uniting a Proactive Primate and Exotic Animal League was founded on this basis. Together we as responsible exotic animal owners must become as one to overcome the many obstacles that present themselves to us on a daily basis whether it be on local, state or federal level. No single element can accomplish what needs to be done, but by banding together we not only have a voice, but also the power to take action with local, state, and federal legislation.
Rest assured that this in no way will be an easy hill to climb, but with the resources, power, and voices of all U.A.P.P.E.A.L. will be a force to be reckoned with. It's time to open our eyes and grasp reality, It's not getting any better out there and it will continue to get worse for us all not just a single element but every element. Yes we will have our victories and yes we will have our defeats its inevitable, but even in our most uncertain times we will have the power and the safety of each other, whether it be through legislation, lobbying, rescue, relocation assistance, education, understanding, or just the everyday fight for our rights.
U.A.P.P.E.A.L. will stand steadfast, strong and true with the determination and perseverance unequalled by anyone or anything. Together we are one, divided we are none.
