Wildlife and Hybrids (except wolf dogs): BANS importation and possession except those on the Domestic Species List or Unrestricted Wild Animals Lists, and including those on the Exceptions to the Unrestricted Wild Animal List and PERMIT for other purposes.

EXOTIC ANIMALS

NATIVE SPECIES


Captive furbearing animals used for fur or breeding are considered domestic furbearing animals.

SPECIAL PERMITS


  • Endangered Species Permits (scientific purposes, enhancing propagation of the species, preventing economic hardship, zoological exhibition and educational purposes) (10A Vermont Statutes Ch. 1-10)

HEALTH LAWS


Wolf hybrids are treated as dogs, and those at least 6 months must be registered by April 1 or within 30 days after acquisition or it turns 6 months and must have rabies vaccinations.  Owners of 2 or more wolf hybrids at least 4 months old for breeding other than for personal use or sale must have a kennel permit.

IMPORT


The import of furbearers requires an import permit and a certificate of veterinary inspection within 30 days of import.
