The following is a list of bills and rules that have been introduced or will be introduced. This list is not all inclusive. The bills pertain to the ownership of exotic and wild animals for the 2022 Legislative Session. It is updated as of 1/1/22.
Requires Department to create a list by 12/31/2022 of wildlife and fish that may not be imported or transported within the state, which must include ALL bats, rodents and primates
Bans ownership of all nonhuman primates along with public contact.
Bans transport between the states of injurious species and creates presumptive ban on import of all non-native species.
Bans ownership and public contact of large cat species currently in the CWSA.
Creates misdemeanor penalty for violating 188-31 regarding aquarium permits
Bans performances and use of exotic and wild animals in traveling animal acts
Prohibits issuing permits for exotic wildlife after 1/1/2014 except for wildlife dealer and menagerie permits
Replaces ban on elephant in traveling act with a ban on certain animals in traveling acts
Bans exotic and wild animals in traveling animal acts.
Bans ownership of large cat species currently in the CWSA without the ban on public contact like the other bills.
Bans possession, sale, transfer and breeding of dangerous wild animals and direct public contact.
